Braving Rain - the Tribute is dedicated!

Despite the rain, over 500 people donned rain gear in order to take part in the patriotic festivities, highlighted by an Ohio National Guard F16 flyover and a stirring rendition of our national anthem. Click on the image above to see the slide show!

First visitor

Although the dedication is still a week away, we had one of our first visitors. She apparently really liked the landscaping!

Landscaping is in

With the landscaping and irrigation in place, only the final asphalt layer and a few minor details remain to be finished before the end of the month dedication.

Granite moves into Place

The beautiful weather has allowed excellent progress, with the crane on site yesterday and today, moving the several-ton blocks of granite into place. Following placement, the granite will be grouted and the frames for the glass panels will be put into place.

Granite Arrives!

Wow, the beautiful granite work has arrived on site. This spectacular stone will stand in honor to our armed forces. Progressing quickly now!

Foundations Take Shape!

The foundation for the services panels has been poured and the layout of the tribute is beginning to take shape. As the weather improves this spring, construction will move ahead. We Still Need Your Help! Any and all contributions are appreciated, we are still short of our fundraising goal. Recognize a veterans service with a tribute brick, or make a donation. With your help we can drive to completion, and launch with our dedication in July!

VTOT Site Work Begins

The site preparation work has begun. Thanks to all of the sponsors and donors who have made this possible!

Click Here to Order Your Tribute Brick Today!

Orders received by March 1st, 2019 will be installed by Memorial Day 2019.

Interested in using the Tribute site for your civic or patriotic event?

The Tribute site is available for your patriotic or civic event outside of Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Veteran's Day. Reservations are available up to six months in advance, and are subject to approval by the Board of Directors. Please use the Usage Form to request a date for your event. Scan and email completed forms to reservations@vtotmi.org

Volunteers Needed!

  • The VTOT Board is looking for 3-5 volunteers to form the VTOT Flag Honor Guard and be responsible for lowering and raising the American flag on the appropriate days. This is a six month 'tour of duty' with 3-5 volunteers coordinating among themselves to handle flag duty. The flagpole lock and crank handle will be secured in a lockbox on the site; the lockbox has a combination lock that each of the Honor Guard members will be provided. In recognition, at the end of your 'tour of duty,' we will provide a brick paver engraved with the name of each volunteer who completed their assignment. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Tim Reese at reservations@vtotmi.org.

  • If you are interested in helping to plan and conduct the 2018 Veterans Day Ceremony, please contact Tim Reese @ reservations@vtotmi.org.

Donor of the day

The VTOT Board would like to 'pull' the trigger on a 'double' Thank You to Mr. Charles Mann and Hunter's Creek Club in Metamora, MI. Charlie and the HCC have twice donated the use of the Club for shooting sports fundraising events in the last year. The outstanding facilities and friendly staff are a cut above the rest and contributed greatly to our fundraising success. We are deeply grateful for their support.
